Members of the Bloomfield College Community,
Our shock at the violence and death of innocent children, teachers and staff in Newtown, Connecticut is one that is shared throughout the country. The death of those so young comes at a time of year when many in this community celebrate the birth of an infant and the promise of a Prince of Peace, and a time of joy and celebration for many others as well. The destruction of these young people becomes all the more incomprehensible at this time.
Our sense of dismay and horror must also be understood as part of the human condition, and kept in our minds and hearts as we dedicate ourselves to the work of the College that embraces hope and optimism for those who seek to explore and develop their talents and capacity for growth, compassion and optimism for our future.
For the remainder of this year the College’s flags will be flown at half staff as a symbol of this terrible loss.
